Directory of Torah-observant groups and congregations in Southern Africa.
 
 
About this directory:
There is a definite need for such a directory. Most of the feedback of this website are from people who want to know where is the nearest Torah study group or Torah-observant congregation. However, I cannot with a clear conscious blindly refer people to any group. I've spent more than a year struggling to come up with a list of core beliefs that I consider to be essential in the Hebrew movement, without the fear of becoming an exclusive group.
 
These beliefs are applicable to what is being believed and taught (emphasis on taught) in the group by the leadership, not the individual beliefs of the groups members or visitors.
Very important: these are NOT requirements to fellowship with us, but ONLY to be listed on this directory. I trust that my Hebrew roots friends who believes otherwise will understand my position and don't end our relationships, but rather engage in debate/discussion. 

If there are any groups that for some reason don't want to be listed, could they please at least list the name of a local contact person so that interested people can contact them?
Also, if there are no groups in your area and you want to start one, then you are most welcome to list your name.
(This directory is for groups in Southern Africa that adhere to the core beliefs listed below. There will also soon be an international independent searchable relational Hebrew Roots directory for individuals, groups/congregations and communities at www.directory.hebrewrootsmovement.org).
 
Core beliefs that we consider to be essential: Kern-oortuigings wat ons as noodsaaklik beskou:
1. There is only one God/Elohim and His Name is YHWH. 1. Daar is slegs een God/Elohiem en Sy Naam is JHWH.
2. Yeshua is the Messiah. He is the Son of YHWH and He is divine. 2. Jeshua is die Messias. Hy is die Seun van JHWH en Hy is goddelik.
3. Salvation is only by faith in the atoning blood of Yeshua,
    not by works, but faith without works is dead. 		 3. Verlossing is slegs deur geloof in die saligmakende bloed van Jeshua,
    nie deur werke nie, maar geloof sonder werke is dood. 
4. YHVH's covenants are eternal: we are grafted in, we don't replace Israel. 4. JHWH se verbonde is ewig: ons is ingeënt, ons vervang nie Israel nie.
   

The following two beliefs can have serious consequences for those who don't believe it. There are some believers that don't believe it and still belief that Yeshua is the Messiah, but there are many others that are rejecting the Brit Chadashah ("New Testament") and ultimately Yeshua as the Messiah because of it.

There probably are many others who also are unsure about it. I would like to suggest that we seriously study and discuss these issues in detail (there are some excellent articles about it by Brad Scott and Rico Cortes that you can read in the meantime). 

Because of my concerns as stated above I cannot with a peacefull conscience put groups that teaches otherwise on this directory. 
(at least not unconditionally, I would like to discuss this matter with other group leaders and get their feedback on it).

Die volgende oortuigings kan ernstige gevolge inhou vir diegene wat nie daaraan glo nie. Daar is sommige gelowiges wat dit nie glo nie en steeds in Jeshua glo as die Messias, maar daar is baie ander wat die Brit Gadashah ("Nuwe Testament") en uiteindelik vir Jeshua as die Messias verwerp as gevolg daarvan.

Daar is heelwaarskynlik baie ander wat ook onseker is daaromtrent. Ek wil voorstel dat ons hierdie sake ernstig bestudeer en in detail bespreek (daar is uitstekende artikels daaroor deur Brad Scott en Rico Cortes wat julle intussen kan lees).

As gevolg van my bekommernisse soos hierbo genoem kan ek nie met vrede in my gemoed groepe wat anders leer op hierdie naamlys plaas nie.

5. We believe in the pre-human existence of Yeshua. 5. Ons glo in die voormenslike bestaan van Jeshua.
6. We belief in the whole Bible, including the letters of Paul. 6. Ons glo in die hele Bybel, insluitend die briewe van Paulus.
One last remark: groups that believe that only they are right and consider themselves super-spiritual, and accuse other believers of being idolaters just because they don't believe exactly like they do, are not welcome, unless they repent of their self righteousness and spiritual pride and judgmental spirit and unloving heart. None of us are perfect and nobody knows everything.
